       ‘의를 위해 핍박 받는 자’ 되자

 

이 나라 개신교 인구가 1천만이라 한다. 마태복음 5장 10절 ‘의를 위해 핍박받는 자 복이 있도다, 천국이 저희들 것이니라’(?). 그런데 1천만 인구 중 과연 몇명이나 의를 위해 핍박을 받으려 할까? 핍박? 아무나 받을 수 없는 것도 핍박이다. 의를 공격적으로 행하는 사람만이 핍박을 받는다. 내가 보기에 의를 공격적으로 실행한 사람으로 보이지 않는 많은 사람들 중에 “나는 구원받았다, 나는 확실히 그런 신호를 받았다” 이렇게 말하는 사람들을 여럿 보았다. 아마도 종교를 환상으로 믿는 사람들 같이 느껴졌다. 나는 어떤 이름 있는 목사로부터 예수를 받아들이지 않는다는 이유로 “마귀의 자식”이라는 소리를 면전에서 들었다. 물론 그가 초대한 자리를 박차고 나왔다.

 

그는 목자라는 종교적 계급으로 복음을 전파하는 사람이다. 양떼들에 퍼주는 사람이다. 무엇을 퍼줄까? 미사여구를 퍼줄까? 주홍글씨의 딤즈델리 목사처럼 고뇌로부터 깨달은 영혼을 퍼줄까? 의를 행한 대가로 받은 핍박을 몸으로 간증할까? 문재인이가 공포의 독재를 나날이 더해가고 있다. 모든 국민들이 위험에 처해있다. 바로 이럴 때 나서야 하는 사람들이 예수님의 권능을 믿는 기독교인들이 아니던가? “나를 잡아가라, 너는 악귀 씌워진 악마의 독재자다, 저자에게 저주가 있으라” 이렇게 담대하게 나서는 종교인 있던가?

 

성경말씀을 안경 너머로 앵무하는 일은 누구든 쉽게 할 수 있다. 하지만 그 말씀을 애국의 진흙탕에서 솔선한 죄로 핍박받는 종교인들은 그리 많지 않은 것 같다. 예수님의 약속을 믿고 그를 사랑한다면 문재인의 독재 정도가 크게 무서울 리 없을 것이다. 대부분의 그들은 몸을 사려도 너무 사린다. 가짜라는 뜻이다. 이들이 바로 예수님의 은혜를 배은하는 사람들일 것이다.

 

이 사회에는 예수님에게 영광을 쌓아올리려는 사람보다는 예수님을 팔아 일신의 영달을 추구하는 종교장사꾼들이 너무나 많은 것 같다. 나를 앞에 두고 단지 그 자리에서 예수를 구세주로 즉각 받아들이지 않는다는 이유 하나로 마귀자식이라고 발언했던 그 목회자가 가끔 생각날 때가 있다. 그는 그가 영영 나를 예수님의 집근처에 오지 못하도록 높은 담을 쌓은 사람이라는 걸 알지 못할 것이다. “내 앞에서 다른 신을 섬기지 말라” 아마도 이 비슷한 성경 구절이 개신교인들로 하여금 타인들을 이단시하고 사회를 물과 기름으로 가르는 사실상의 분열의 칼로 역할할지도 모른다. 물론 해석하는 사람에 따라 다르긴 하겠지만 이런 배타성이 하늘의 영광을 가리는 큰 장애물일 수 있을 것이다. 이는 성격을 어떻게 해석하느냐의 문제가 아니라 현실의 문제인 것이다.

 

이 글의  초점은 여기까지가 아니다. 전광훈, 김성광과 같은 정치목사 그리고 이들과 대동소이한 정치목사들, 눈과 볼 따귀에 욕심과 심술이 뒤룩뒤룩하게 매달린 흉한 얼굴들을 가진 목사들, 빨갱이들과 타협하는 목사들, 그들은 예수님에게 영광을 쌓아올리는 성직자들인가 아니면 예수님을 팔아먹고 욕되게 하는 영혼적 양아치들인가?

 

나는 오늘 상상한다. 양심이 어린아이 혓바닥처럼 깨끗한 목사, 양심에 털이 난 도둑놈 목사, 이런 것 상관없다. 개신교 목사들 모두가 한결같이 마태복음 5장 10절을 합창해 주었으면 참 좋겠다는 생각을 한다. 성경말씀을 그대로 읊지 말고 외우기 쉽고 발음하기  좋게 “우리 모두 의를 위해 핍박받는 애국자가 됩시다” “정의와 애국을 적극적으로 투사합시다” 이렇게!

 

Let’s Make Ourselves Those Who Are Persecuted for the Sake of Righteousness

 

Christian population in this country is said to be 10 million. Clause 10 chapter 5 of The Gospel according to Matthew says, “Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for there is the kingdom of heaven”(?). But how many among the 10 million people would really be willing to be persecuted. Persecution? It is not such thing that can be given to anybody, either. Only those who aggressively put righteousness into practice are persecuted. I’ve seen several people saying “I’ve been saved. I am sure I’ve got the signal” among many people who don’t look to me to have aggressively put righteousness into practice. They gave me such feeling that they believe religion in illusion. I heard a famous pastor calling me ‘son of devil’ in my presence on the reason that I would not accept Jesus Christ. Of course I left the place where he invited me indignantly.

 

He is a man who preaches the Gospel in his religious rank of pastor. He is a man who ladle onto herds of sheep. What would he like to ladle onto them. Would he like to ladle onto them the soul enlightened from sufferings like the pastor Dimsdale in The Scarlet Letter? Or would he like to give testimony with his own body on the persecution which he underwent at the cost of putting righteousness into practice? Moon Jae-In is reinforcing his dictatorship of terror more and more everyday. All the nation are now in danger. Isn’t it Christians who believe authoritative power of Jesus who are supposed to come out in this crucial moment? “You take me, you are a dictator of devil who are possessed of a demon. My curse shall be on his head”.Has there been any religious man who has ever come out undaunted like this?

 

Anyone can easily do echoing words in the Bible over eye glasses. There seems to be not much religious man who are being persecuted under the crime of acting as pioneer in practicing the words in the mud of patriotism. If they believe what Jesus Christ promised and love him, they would not have any reason to be afraid of current level of Moon Jae-In’s dictatorship so much. Most of them are sparing themselves, and that too much. This means they are all pseudo-ones. Probably they are the very people who betray Jesus Christ’s benevolence.

 

In this society, there seems to be more number of religion merchants who hanker after personal distinction by selling Jesus Christ than those who try to heap up honors for Jesus. Sometimes I happen to think of the pastor who uttered in my presence that I was a son of a devil on a single reason that I would not accept Jesus for my savior on the instant in that place. He may not know that he is the man who had built up high wall obstructing me to come near Jesus’s house forever. “Do not worship other gods before me”. Perhaps a phrase in the Bible similar to this might function as an actual dividing knife which makes Christians look on others as heathens and splits the society into oil and water. Of course it depends on each one’s interpretation, but this sort of exclusiveness can be a big barrier that veils the honor of the heaven. This is not a matter of how to interpret the phrase of Holy Bible but a matter of problem in reality

 

The focal point of this writing does not end here. Political pastors such as Jon Gwang-Hoon and Kim Sung-Gwang, and the other pastors almost identical to them, and the ugly-looking pastors whose eyes and cheeks are full of greed and cross temper, -- are they holy priests who are heaping up honors for Jesus Christ or only delinquent souls who are selling Jesus and bringing disgrace on him?

 

Today I imagine. I don’t care whether they are the pastors who have conscience as clean as children’s tongue or they are thief pastors who have no conscience at all. It doesn’t matter to me. I wish if all the pastors could constantly sing in unison the clause 10 chapter 5 of the Gospel according to Matthew. But not to chant the literal words as in the Bible but to chant easy to memorize and pronounce like this; “Let’s make ourselves all those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness”, “Let’s project/throw our righteousness and patriotism positively”
