An old tree

Prevailing over stiff winds

Shivering in the frigid winter

Blackened by the sun

Ravaged by chill winds

Still an unwavering old tree

Mute leafless branches

Intricately hanging on the tree

Unattractive but

Still it stands there tall

But why has time mistreated the old tree?

The leafless tree discolored

Countless birds come in flocks

And fly away after staying briefly

Awaiting a stray blue bird’s arrival

Blue bird, blue bird,

You may stay on my still branches forever

Hoping this song

Will revive the old tree’s roots

And let it sprout green leaves on a spring day
