Epilogue

In my teens, I used to have to work during the day and attend school during the night. After I completed middle and high school, I was luckily accepted into the Korea Military Academy and was able to receive a formal school education for the first time ever in my life. Furthermore, I was educated free of charge for the full four years. I had served in the bitter battlefields in South Vietnam as a second lieutenant and left as a captain for a total of forty-four months, where I encountered many deadly attacks from the Vietcong and even young women and children where they used poisonous darts, hidden sniper rifle fire, and lethal booby traps against us. It was, however, an opportunity for me to learn from and understand guerilla warfare tactics. In addition, the combat per diem payments during the Vietnam War freed me from insufficient military monthly salary for a while. I gave up my aspiration of becoming a general, one that I had had during my time as a cadet, and I took an examination to study abroad. Fortunately, I was accepted and was able to earn my doctorate at a prestigious school, The United States Naval Post Graduate School(UNPS), of which the tuition was two and a half times more expensive than Harvard or Stanford.

The United States Navy is a major branch of the United States armed forces and is charged with the defense of the country at sea, the seaborne support of the other U.S. military services, and the maintenance of security on the seas wherever the interests of the United States extend.

 Thus, the United States controls the world with its naval force, which fulfills sixty percent of the U.S. national defense budget. In 1909, the United States Navy established four curricula of mathematical engineering, system engineering, atomic power, and meteorological engineering to command war for the first time in the world. Founded at the beautiful location of the Monterey Peninsula, the UNPS invited only the most distinguished professors to the school. With the school facility, being big enough, the school decided to accommodate not only the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy officers but also officers from its closest allies. The expensive tuition was fully borne by my country, the Republic of Korea. For this reason, I have pledged my allegiance and devoted myself to my country.

 With a strong determination to keep our country safe, I have contributed the golden days of my sixties and seventies to the country, bringing every effort in finding the root cause of the leftists’ so-called: May 18 (5.18) Democratization Movement. I have read through an enormous amount of materials and have obtained many materials that are extremely difficult to get. I decided to unveil the truth even if it took ten or twenty years. Nine books of mine have been published and sold, which is a significant contribution to Korean history and personal achievement of mine. It is the sad reality that a person like myself is subject to punishment, let alone the lack of rewardfor the patriotic acts of bringing an enormous effort in research on a concerning matter to which no one has even tried to pay attention. 

The reason why I need to unveil the truth about 5.18 and why I need to reveal the identities of those who have insistently protected 5.18 is because of the suppression and vengefulness shown to me and the former president, Chun Doo-hwan. Presently, the Republic of Korea is being dominated by the Jeolla province, a province that reins as the holy ground of the leftist force. The existential purpose of the left wing’s presence is the unification of the Korean peninsula under communism. The May 18 Gwangju Riot was a war between the ROK and the Jeolla province. The riot was masterminded by the North Korean regime and was committed in collaboration with the Jeolla province. The ideological tendency of the Jeolla province is generally pro-North Korean and anti-South Korean. The left-wings and the Jeolla province squarely deny and detest the founder of the ROK, Seng-man Rhee, and the late president, Park Jung-hee, who built what South Korea is today. They keep claiming that the two former presidents are dictators and pro-Japanese collaborators.

The reason why they keep trying to persist on these claims is to emphasize the importance of the strength of the 5.18 Riot, which is the most conscientious one and the one to ensure a long-term seizure of power. What Moon Jae-in, who behaves like the head of a vassal state of China, had shown his true colors as soon as he seized power was to establish the 5.18 constitution by including the 5.18 spirit in the preamble of the Constitution. What is the 5.18 spirit? The North Korean regime led the 5.18 Riot. For this very reason, North Korea has held a 5.18 commemoration ceremony each year on a large scale by each administrative unit throughout the nation. North Korea’s unification spirit under communism is, no doubt, the same as the 5.18 spirit. The pattern of violence that elevates hatred every day for the former president Chun Doo-hwan as well as prohibits the distribution of the former president Chun Doo-hwan’s memoirs that contains a detailed description of the history of 5.18 and metes out oppression, to me are crude barbaric acts that should not be committed by those who are known to have participated in the democratization movement. Our fellow countrymen have to wake up to the stark reality that the left-wing is plotting to hand over this country to the North by executing forcible autocracy and monopolizing the word of democratization. The best solution to resolve the present crisis is to inform our countrymen of the real 5.18 existence and encourage them to form an anti-5.18 sentiment as quickly as possible. Are there any other solutions to save our country other than this?
