I am Jee Man-won, a Korea Military Academy (KMA) graduate and I served in the Vietnam War for 44 months in the late 1960s. When I was a field grade officer, I earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Doctorate in Applied Mathematics at the US Naval Postgraduate School (USNPS). As the President of the United States who has expressed his ever strong determination to protect a century-long ally, the Republic of Korea from the communist threat, I would like to draw your attention to the contents of the enclosed book and to request that you exercise your power to restore Korea’s modern history that was seriously distorted by the leftist governments in the past. With the assistance of others, I have worked for 15 years as an anti-communist civic activist to correct some misconceptions about my nation’s history, and to expose some of the consequences of past events that we believe threaten our nation’s future. The threats originated with riots that occurred in the city of Gwangju in 1980, and which have been erroneously described. Please review the evidence that I have compiled in the enclosed book, written in Korean but including an English translation, so that you may have a clearer understanding of past and future events here in the ROK. My resume is also attached, to establish my credentials. The United States has been a constant ally of the Republic of Korea (ROK) since you freed us from oppression over 60 years ago. Yet some in the ROK oppose your support today, for example, regarding the deployment of the THAAD defense system. Perhaps the research and conclusions presented in my book will help to explain this phenomenon. For this reason, Mr. President, I dare to ask for your cooperation to correct the distortions of our modern history and go together with our strongest ally, the United States of America without hindrance.
